Sweet Valentina spent quality time with her parents in Disney after finishing cancer treatment.

A Long Journey, and a Big Reward

7-year-old Valentina, from Charlotte, NC, loves swimming, butterflies, arepas, and Frozen. She adores her parents and spends most of her time playing at the park and painting. But when Valentina was 5, her days were spent between home and the hospital for chemotherapy treatments.

Valentina’s social worker knew that after she finished treatment, Valentina deserved a wish. Valentina demonstrated incredible strength during her cancer journey, and it was time to celebrate making it through a scary time.

All Her Favorites

It was easy for Valentina to choose her one true wish. As one of Elsa’s biggest fans, Valentina knew that a trip to Walt Disney World be perfect. Her wish would allow her to spend the quality, fun-packed time with her family that she missed out on during treatment.

At Disney, Valentina and her parents bounced around Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Valentina posed with her favorite characters, like Minnie and Mickey, and she was enchanted by the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom.

Hope is Medicine

“Every moment was better than the last. We are definitely in love with your wonderful foundation,” says Valentina’s mom, Maria.

The wish experience is an important part of a child’s treatment journey. It brings them much needed time to unplug from the whirlwind of hospitals, medicines, and pain.

For kids like Valentina and their families, wishes bring hope —  and hope is medicine.
